Citing your sources is very important for several reasons:

• When you use other people's ideas and/or words you need to give them credit. If you do not, you are plagiarizing!
• Your readers may want to look at the sources you have cited because they're interested in the topic.
• Your professors are all going to require that you cite your sources.
  

Think of these as the "pocket calculators" of citation formatting. These may save you a little time, but make sure you double-check the results against the books and other guides you have for formatting to make sure it's working correctly. The results they produce are only as good as the information you give them!
